Aims & objectives

SAPOE aims to promote, by appropriate and lawful means, the professional interests of its members and in particular:

1. To preserve, protect and promote the rights of producers of audiovisual works and the professional interests of its members in Greece, the European Union and more generally worldwide.

2. The advancement, promotion and preservation of the producer’s work, who contributes significantly to the development and creation of film, television, multimedia and other forms of audiovisual works.

3. Economic development of audiovisual production by promoting position papers and interventions at the institutional framework.

4. The preservation and dissemination of Greek cultural heritage.

5. Developing partnerships with national and international bodies with the same or similar purposes to promote common interests.

6. The participation in European and international bodies or associations of producers of audiovisual works and / or other specialized carriers in the wider audiovisual sector.

7. The assertion and protection of related rights of producers of audiovisual works.

8. The intervention in administrative and judicial authorities or trade unions in Greece and abroad, on all matters relating to the professional interests of its members, for developing, fostering and implementing decisions relating to the common professional and economic interests of its members.

 9. The intervention in proceedings which have particular interest to producers, within the limits of the law and followed by a special decision of the Board, as well as performance on behalf of one or more Members of the Association before any Court of any rank and jurisdiction under special authorization and power provided by a decision of the Board;

10. The creation of archives for preserving audiovisual works and protecting the rights of producers on their work.

11. The study, protection and promotion of institutional, financial and general interests of producers of audiovisual works and the legitimate rights of its Members.

12. Defend freedom of thought, speech and expression, freedom of association and the constitutionally guaranteed rights.

13. The creation of a chamber of audiovisual works.

Means of Action:

The Association seeks to achieve its goals:

1. With the constant care to improve the institutional and legal framework of copyright and related rights of film art, broadcasting, and generally any audiovisual production.

2. With interventions from the Association (reports, complaints, position documents, court actions and anything else required) before any authority or body and by announcements to the media on issues concerning the interests of its Members.

4. By organizing conferences, seminars, lectures, festivals, tributes and in general all kinds of cultural and artistic events.

5. With the establishment of advisory committees for the study and treatment of recommendations of the Association for Institutional and professional matters of its Members.

6. By creating a registry of audiovisual producers whose goal is to create a file containing a list of all Greek producers of audiovisual works and any other information, documents, etc., that might be considered useful to be included in this file.

7. With the representation of the Association, in institutional or State bodies, as an indication, legislative committees, Ministries, the Greek Film Center, Thessaloniki International Film Festival, European or international associations or organizations participating in which SAPOE is participating or anywhere else decided.

8. With systematic contact with policy makers, cultural and trade unions active in the audiovisual sector and generally by developing any form of activity and operations within the Constitution and laws.

9. With the publication of magazines and books of cultural, artistic and professional content and the creation and maintenance of a library and internet site.

10. By providing advisory services to its Members and developing contacts with public and private, national or foreign financial institutions in order to support them in promoting their works.

11. By collaborating with organizations that seek to upgrade audiovisual education.

12. By proposing measures to the relevant state bodies on issues of film, television, multimedia and the audiovisual media sector in general.

13. With the introduction of special awards, or honors to producers, Greeks and foreigners who have contributed with their creative work in cultural heritage.

14. With any other means or activity in accordance with the law and the Constitution that contributes to the goals of the Association.
